When it comes to food security, Pinstrup-Andersen (2009) has defined this term as a description of a country that provides enough foods to meet the dietary energy requirement for its civillians.

According to the diagram ablove, food security ensures that food products are available, accessible for utilisation with a stable supply chain to provide nutritional demand. In the united Kingdom, to ensure the accessibility and availability of food products, the government has established food security policies through agencies and departments (Houses of Parliament, 2017)

For example:

Department for Environment, Food and Rural (Defra)

Food Standard Agency (FDA)
